Pics: Coronation Street in The Great Knaresborough Bed Race

With thanks to Coronation Street fan and journalist Helen Nash on twitter today for sending us this fantastic picture.

The picture was taken at The Great Knaresborough Bed Race, which took place on Saturday 11 June 2016.  The Great Knaresborough Bed Race takes place annually.

Staged for the first in 1966, and held each year since come hell or high water in the River Nidd, the Great Knaresborough Bed Race is part pageant and part gruelling time trial over a 2.4 mile course. It is organised by the volunteer group, the Knaresborough Lions, and is held to raise money for good causes.

The team have dressed up as Coronation Street characters and their "bed" is a copy of the Rovers Return.  I can guess that the characters are (from left to right) Bet Lynch, Tracy on the roof listening to her tapes, Liz McDonald (?), Fred Elliot and Hilda Ogden.  You can see more pictures of all the teams at their facebook page here.

In last year's bed race, Rita and Norris put in an appearance!  Have a look here.
