Paula Lane, who plays Kylie Platt in Coronation Street, will be leaving the show later this year, as we already know. And she's been nominated for Best Actress in this year's British Soap Awards too.
Paula gives an interview to the Daily Star in which she talks about leaving the show. She'll be filming her leaving storyline in June.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star Sunday Paula says: “I’m very happy with my exit. I can’t reveal how or why or even if the door is being left open for Kylie. It’s a very fitting end for the character. And of course everyone is counting down to the big reveal where Callum’s body will finally be found."
On life after Coronation Street, Paula mentions ex-Corrie actresses who have gone on to star in other telly programmes. She says: “They’re all rocking it and they’re doing it really, really well. It’s a real testament to Corrie. I’m kind of mindful of the fact that I want to do something very different from Kylie.”

"It's a very fitting end for the character". Kinda makes you wonder how much sympathy Paula Lane has for Kylie after playing her for all these years. It's hard to think of any ending where Kylie leaves in an uplifting, empowered manner. Prison? Running away, deserting her children again? Which only leaves dying, I guess.
I also don't get the impression that Paula Lane will be looking back or letting the grass grow. Shame. I've grown to love Kylie, especially her and Dsvid together.
"It's a very fitting end for the character" - sounds like whether or not Kylie is killed off, Paula has little interest in reviving her... "end" being the key word, here.
I will never understand why they can't simply keep characters and just replace the actors.
