The Curious Case of Rosamund Street

I was watching the behind the scenes video of the latest Corrie promo on ITV's Youtube, when I noticed something slightly odd about Rosamund Street, it seems to have gone.

Visitors to the tour will probably know that back at Granada there used to be a mural on the other side of the Rosamund Street arch, to give the illusion of the street continuing on.

Though the mural wasn't often shown in the show itself, with shots down Rosamund Street often being blocked by a Newton and Ridley's van. On the new set, it seems there is a whole new row of shops that have sprung up where the mural used to be.

I don't actually mind this new row of shops springing up, as it opens up new opportunities for storylines and shops. It's just going to seem odd that the only properties on Rosamund Street are Barlow's Buys and the medical centre, especially since Roys Rolls, Sunliner's Travel Agency and Rita's Kabin used to be somewhere on an unseen part of Rosamund Street.

Perhaps this new row of shops will actually be the modern day locations of those businesses? Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing the new street (Rosamund Street? Mawdsley Street? Tile Street?) in the show in the coming months.

Yes, the old mural made it look strictly residential when, you're right, it used to contain the old Kabin, cafe and Sunliners.

Kind of doesnt make sense when immediately behind the rovers and backyards is another residential street with a row of houses backing on the ginel.

It doesn't make sense as the ginel has a row of terraced houses behind it. These new shops look like they are running into the houses

Wouldn't the row of shops run along Mawdsley Street? They look like they're at the other side of the road from the Mawdsley Street houses.

Makes zero sense, but that's Rosamund Street for you. It's had about fifteen different looks.

Mawdsley Street is parallel to Coronation Street, Rosamund crosses them both at right angles. The other end of Rosamund looks odd in the photo due to the angle that makes the mural on the building look more flat than in perspective like it would if you were standing right on Rosamund.

There never used to be shops there. This looks like the producers are anticipating enlarging the set to accommodate the larger cast, and are trying to surreptitiously expand the locale, hoping we won't notice. They underestimate the attention to detail of Corriephiles!
