How wonderful to see Emily back on form and in a storyline on Coronation Street. Let's take a moment to relive some of the protests that Emily's been involved in that she mentioned last night. Here she is with nephew Geoffrey (aka Spider) up a tree in protest to save the Red Rec.
And here's another picture of the same protest with Roy, Spider and Toyah.
But, as Emily pointed out last night, it's not the first time she's been involved in a bit of direct action. The future of Coronation Street was in the balance in 1974 and many of the residents opposed the council’s decision to demolish the place. Emily was so disgruntled when she heard that Alf Roberts and Len Fairclough knew about it and didn’t say anything. Emily threw a brick through Len’s window in protest. The street was eventually saved.

And this is why we all LOVE Emily Bishop... and admire her.
Long may you continue to appear on our screens.
Never underestimate the potential of a little old lady, she may be collecting books today, but tomorrow, she's going to rock a protest in style!
Loved her scenes and so nice to see her have a few more lines. And was also nice to see her with other characters as well. :) you certainly rock Emily and Eileen Derbyshire!
Emily Bishop, one of my favourite characters. It's good to be able to see her back in true form. For too long she has been the designated baby sitter on Coronation Street.

We love you Emily
Saw the actor who played Spider on an episode of Endeavour and thought, 'you belong with Auntie Em'....bring Spider back! Great to see Emily back as well.
ChiaGwen, My sentiments exactly. as long as there isn't a 'personality transplant' that we have to suffer through, a more mature Spider who is perhaps reconnecting with family and his own protest roots would be welcome indeed.
Martes in Canada.
