Corrie have already filmed Tommy Duckworth's exit

The Daily Star say today that Corrie bosses have already filmed the scenes which will cover Tommy Duckworth's exit from the soap.

In a last-minute scene added yesterday, it is revealed that Tommy has left Weatherfield after a fight with his girlfriend Tina McIntyre.

Tina returns to the flat to discover her ex David Platt asleep. David tells Tina: “Tommy proper kicked off. He packed a bag and went off to the airport.”

I wonder if Tommy will return in three years time with a different head?

OK. This scene/plot was going to happen anyway, but I'd just be curious to know if Duckworth was due to come back after the fight - Assume he was.

It seems like the fight is a convenient incident for Corrie bosses - a bit like his car crash last year. If the video had surfaced then, presumably, Duckworth would have died.

Wonder if the "senior female actress" in the Daily Mail who had reportedly said she wouldn't work with Fountain again exists, and if she does, who it is? Derbyshire, Knox, Kirkbride, Collins, Nicholls, Worth?

Probably doesn't exist. Daily Mail? Give us a break! It was rumoured yesterday in The Star too - Mr Curry Sauce getting his kicks.

Almost certainly!

I worked on a case a few years ago where a guy got his thingy caught in a printing press. The Sun quoted a doctor saying he'd never seen such a flat manhood. As of a doctor would say that, or even be allowed by the hospital press office - rightly - to say anything!

They wouldn't work with the lad again? Wow-sanctimonious or what. He apologized. That means nothing I suppose. Oh well. I hope they bring out all the dirt now on ALL the cast members including some of those older ladies who have more than one skeleton in their closets.

It goes to show how much power the older cast have over the producers. I think it would most likely of been Barbara Knox as Rita has been featuring alongside Tommy quite alot recently.

I bet they didn't kick up a fuss when their mate Bill Roache made comments that rape victims deserved it due to rubbish about doing something bad in a previous life. He had to apologise but got off with it, yet he is far older and should have more sense.

I hate that the older cast are treated like god's gift because they have stuck to a cushy job, notice how many younger cast are axed.

And its nothing to do with the history or dedication. Lets not delude ourselves that the older cast can act.

I think it's a publicity stunt. The guy's contract was not going to be renewed anyway so here's the next best thing. Career stalling?. Do something outrageous - get a shave!!

I Personally think his exit will be rushed and not very well done... Shame to see him go, knowing corrie give it a year and he will come back as a new person!

I am personally bored with blog after blog over this handsome but boring hardly a main character. Chris who? It and he will be forgotton in a nmatter of weeks.

I hope 'Tommy' comes back, it would be a shame to lose the connection with the Duckworths and Tyrone. Tommy hasn't featured too much so far so I'd like there to be a Duckworths family in the future. And Tyrone needs a good buddy. By the way, where is he?

I think it is completely wrong to suggest that Barbra Knox has refused to work with Mr Fountain, just because she has shared screen time with him. We don't even know that this senior diva exists.

Let's hope Ms Knox is too busy to visit her lawyers.

Yeah, Barbara Knox would go to lawyer over a comment on a blog. Get over yourself mate.

Okay maybe it wasn't her, I was just speculating.

If I understand it correctly Corrie is filmed about 6 weeks in advance of broadcast.
So how will it work in this case? do they have to re-shoot a bunch of scenes that he was in, do they show the six weeks they have with him in and then show his exit story or do they cut his scenes and splice in footage that they have from those episodes that weren't in the final edit?

What is David doing at Tina's flat? I presume this means the baby is Nick's because I doubt David would be staying there if he had a newborn baby across the road

It doesn't really matter which female senior actor made a statement or if a statement was even made does it? I mean really, talk about nit picking. The point is that Chris Fountain, age 25, made a rap video about rape and violence towards women. He is not a child. He is now terribly upset because he has offended his family and girlfriend. Does he deserve being fired from Coronation Street - your darn right he does. There must be something written into a contract about morals and actions. He screwed up badly and now he has to pay for it. So lets call a spade a spade instead of trying to figure out which female actress said or didn't say something regarding working with Chris. You screwed up Chris - tough luck, maybe you will grow up now.

While this is sad news in the short term, historically young male actors survive scandals much better than females. Charlie Sheen, High Grant, Rob Lowe to name a few. CF is young, good looking and a bad boy reputation might even enhance his appeal with the under-thirty demographics.

Janice, sadly your comments are true. I cannot figure out why some of the sleazebags like Roman Polanski, Woody Allen, Charlie Sheen are idolized. This actor is 25 years old-he is NOT a baby and is surely old enough by now to realize what is inappropriate, offensive and belittling to so many people. Hiding behind the "He's young and He's an artist" is just pathetic. Good for him for making a decent apology, now face the consequences. Others, such as Tiger Woods or Robert Downet Jr. made huge mistakes but they manned-up, apologised for all the pain they had caused, took responsibility for their actions and faced the fallout. Sure it may be rough for a while but others got careers on track again. Maybe this guy can do the same. Only thing stopping him will be himself.

I'm guessing Corrie's highly principled response (with which I agree) was greatly influenced by the sponsors and advertisers. This is commercial television with product placement and tediously long commercial breaks so money has the last word. Who knows what pressure tptb were put under?

He made a career limiting move. Therefore, career limited.

What difference does it make how they "exit" Tommy? We all know why he's leaving anyway. How they write him out is kind of irrelevent at thsi point.

Viewers: 'Tommy' is a 'Duckworth'!
And a screw-up. He inherited it from Terry. Chris Fountain did this so well, looking dopey one second and noble the next. In other words, Chris was the perfect person to BE Tommy. Give him a break, accept his apologies, and get on with it. Fountain is no less creepy than many others, perhaps smarter.
