We've all been subjected to "Big Weeks" in Coronation Street in the past where there's been explosions, hostages, murder attempts, high drama and more. And quite often they fall flat. Aside from the tram crash episodes, the more hype we get, the less engaging it seems to be.
This week, for me, was a true "Big Week". I enjoyed every single episode from Sunday through to Friday night. There were six in all, including an extra Wednesday and I was not bored with any of them. I can't even say there were any "lowlights". While the bullying storyline wasn't really something I followed with great interest, it was at least short and sweet and the performances were fine.
Most of the week was Barlow-centric and I always love it when that happens. As expected, Peter and Carla seem to be finished and not before time. There's a new hunk on the street who flirts with anything female. Easy friendships are cut short by Kirsty's rages.
There's more about all of this on my longer blog post here.

It was disappointed, nothing made sense. I mean, Stella was hardly appearing! This character is getting far underused at the moment, whats the point of introducing her in such a big role as a landlady.
For example, why didn't she accompany Leanne to identify the body? Or why did Deirdre come to Carla when she could of went to Stella instead for support.
Hopefully she gets used a bit more. They are not using her much lately, perhaps she can help get Simon back? I know others need a chance, but considering Stella has not had a storyline of her own is just ridiculous. We need more of her Collinson. Whats the point of having her.
But... but... that's one thing that made this such a good week! Stella not being pushed into every storyline!
StellaFan: That's a joke, right?
I agree Tvor, I especially enjoy storylines invlving the Barlows. Glad not to see much of Stella this week and won't care if we never see her again.
More than a little sick of Leanne, Peter and Carla now. It's been months and months and Leanne is getting beyond a joke. A character I used to enjoy but she's so nasty and spiteful these days. It's almost as though the other stories are carrying on and somebody keeps hitting repeat during these scenes. Very tiring.
Well Beth you wont have to be putting up with Peter and Carla for much longer you will doubtless be pleased to hear. Whatever you think of these characters, their acting is top notch and very believable. Exactly what is the point of Fiz and Katie?????
I agree, it was a great week!-NN
